Ferraris

La storia di una famiglia, di donne e di uomini che, generazione dopo generazione, hanno scelto di resistere, prendendosi cura del territorio in cui sono nati e in cui, da sempre, credono.

At the beginning of the last century grandfather Luigi, like many others, left for the New World. The gold rush, however, allowed his wife Teresa to cultivate his dream in Castagnole Monferrato. And it is here that, in Via al Castello, the first Ferraris Agricola winery took shape.

Today Ferraris Agricola is a reference point in the world of Ruchè and the reference point of Ruchè in the world.

Luca Ferraris is the fourth generation of producers in the family who, like his great-grandfather Luigi, chose to travel and, with firm roots in Monferrato, to become an ambassador of a vine, a grape and a wine whose roots seem somewhat mysterious.

Passion, culture and courage have guided the winery towards natural growth: if in 2000 there were 10,000 bottles produced, today Ferraris Agricola has 300,000 in over 35 different markets.

It was Luca Ferraris, in 2007, who thoroughly understood the peculiarities of the Ruchè vine, capable, like the most important grapes, of resisting over time. Thus was born Opera Prima. But that is not all. Luca Ferraris was also chosen by Don Giacomo Cauda, putative father of Ruchè, as heir of Vigna del Parroco: therefore called to take care of the history and future of the ancient varietal.

For the family, producing wines means respecting: the territory, the vineyard, the people and their talents. Within the company, 75% of young people under 40 are employed, a necessary choice to look to the future of Ruchè. Luca Ferraris cultivates and is committed to spreading the culture of this ancient vine. The historic cellar, the one purchased in 1921 by grandmother Teresa, is today a museum, tangible and intangible heritage of a family and a territory, between centuries-old spaces used for the production of wine and work tools.

The undisputed protagonists are the infernot, tunnels dug into the rock, a collective heritage, where temperature and humidity guarantee excellent conservation of the best vintages. And then, in the new location, the renovated tasting room and the green space of the AgriChiringuito to offer different perspectives and horizons to anyone who chooses to discover Ruchè, through time and the men who have made it so.
