Winery in Castagnole Monferrato

Montalbera is rigor and planning, interpretation and terroir. The story of a family, Morando, who has chosen to take care of its roots and the territory, enhancing what the earth offers, with great respect, welcoming the testimony of those who know Mother Nature and the many expressions of her. But not only. Montalbera is that winery that has been able to trust the fruits of the land, the Ruchè, that vine and that name with mysterious and little known origins but capable of offering a unique perspective in the panorama of the great Piedmontese wines.

Given this aura of mystery linked to the vine, the company decided to lay a first piece to reconstruct its history. Montalbera, in fact, was the first company to have started a research on DNA to scientifically affirm that it is a 100% indigenous grape variety.

The Morando family, in the person of Franco Morando, today at the helm of the company, has deployed their experience as entrepreneurs at the service of a grape and a wine.

From the eighties to today, Montalbera has been growing: today it has 110 hectares of which 100 are in the Monferrato area. In addition to the proprietary vineyards, the cultivation of Piedmont IGP hazelnuts stands out. Furthermore, thanks to this important territorial extension, it is the company with the highest percentage of land planted with Ruchè in the appellation. The three Ruchè labels produced make his Ruchè the most drunk in the world today. Every day, new sustainable choices are implemented, from the cultivation method, through the certifications in the vineyard to the corporate welfare.

Among other things, only selected autochthonous yeasts are used while the use of sulphites has been significantly reduced compared to legal limits. Today, like yesterday, the company is dedicated to experimentation, starting with over-ripening techniques in the vineyard and refining in amphora.

The company has always been involved since the early years of production and was the first to land and establish itself in the major national and international guides, alongside big names in local and non-local viticulture.

The sale of its products is mainly dedicated to the national market, with a concept of sales network of a large company such as Montalbera, made up of hundreds of agents covering the whole territory, from North to South, but with an eye also to the foreign market with about 40 distributors located in America, Canada, Europe, China and Japan.

Montalbera is Ruchè but not only. Local wines but also new ideas, as regards the expressions of the typical Monferrato grape and tourist hospitality. In fact, the Montalbera 360 ° Experience project was born to guide the consumer through itineraries dedicated to wine: on foot, by bike or overlooking the winesuite among the family’s vineyards.

With Montalbera it is possible to live and imagine the future of all this: through skills, dreams and the great entrepreneurial ability of those who, by taking care of their surroundings, mark their future.

Guided tour and tasting with cutting board

Two steps between the rows, history of the cellar, the magic of the barrel cellar and the discovery of wines. The guided tour is followed by a tasting of 3 wines: Sparkling Cuvée Blanche or Cuvée Rosè, Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato La Tradizione, Barbera d’Asti Solo Acciaio. Wine tasting accompanied by a platter of local salami and cheeses.

INTRODUCTION

The consumer will be welcomed into the company to be guided in
a complete itinerary, from the visit to the vineyard, to the tasting
guided tour of 3 wines passing through a visit to the cellar.

MATERIAL

During the experience, the guest will be able to deepen every detail related to the territory and its peculiarities together with the characteristics of the main vines.

PATH

This type of visit gives the guest the opportunity to get to know the Ruchè area and somehow start being part of it. Duration of the visit: approximately 1 hour.

Guided tour and classic tasting

Two steps between the rows, history of the cellar, the magic of the barrel cellar and the discovery of wines. The guided tour is followed by a tasting of 3 wines: Sparkling Cuvée Blanche or Cuvée Rosè, Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato La Tradizione, Barbera d’Asti Solo Acciaio.

INTRODUCTION

The consumer begins to taste the territory through a dynamic approach with a timely and precise overview from the history of the company, to the guided tasting of the 3 wines.

MATERIAL

During the experience, the guest will have the opportunity to deepen every detail related to the territory and its peculiarities together with the characteristics of the main grape varieties, the methods of winemaking and aging.

PATH

This experience is indicated for a first step in the Monferrato that speaks of Ruchè, teasing all the senses from sight to taste, passing through the sense of smell, insinuating in the guest the desire to return. Duration of the visit: about 60 minutes.

Masterclass Ruchè

A stroll through the rows, history of the cellar, the magic of the barrel cellar and the discovery of the wines that Montalbera produces. The guided tour is followed by a tasting which includes: Ruchè La Tradizione, Ruchè Laccento and Ruchè Limpronta and an old vintage.

INTRODUCTION

The consumer will be welcomed into the company to be guided on a complete path, from history to production to arrive at interactive tasting.

MATERIAL

The guest will be invited to participate in the guided tour, and then move on to the tasting, and discover the general characteristics of the Ruchè grape and its cultivation and production methods.

PATH

During this process, the consumer will be an active part of the experience and the latter will take shape with him and his interactions. The guest will be asked to participate and leave useful comments to spread awareness in an ever more adequate way. Duration of the visit: approximately 1 hour.
